The ork defenses were well positioned leaving little room to make an aggressive approach. I believe this to have been mere happen-stance as the majority of their vessels were crude 'Roks', little more than asteroids with guns and an engine. A pair of them stood sentinel over the planet's pole where they provided a dangerous gauntlet to run should we wish to strike at the world itself. Arthadair led the advance swiftly demolishing a pair of ork escorts that were loitering in high orbit. A wing of Eagle bombers followed up in an attempt to silence the Roks over the pole, they nearly succeeded, blowing large chunks out of one of the rocky forms leaving it with little structural integrity. It is to be hoped that the thing lost power and fell into the planet's gravity well.
After this first strike the orks rallied to engage us, with the exception of a third 'Rok' which remained at low power through the whole battle, doubtless due to internecine greenskin conflicts. Those ships that did come after use were formidable, in spite of their ungainly aesthetics, and with a combination of guns and strike craft managed to take down two of the Isha yiss Shem and dealt some mostly superficial damage to the Arthadair. However the orks came off worse in the pass, losing another two of their Onslaught escorts as well as one of their carrier capital ships dubbed the 'Wurldenda'. The wreckage of that ship remained mostly intact so once Ifian is purged of their menace we shall have some practice for our bomber pilots to remain sharp.
Upon the destruction of the 'Wurldenda' the remaining ork ships decided to disengage rather than face their destruction. A surprising show of wisdom from such primitives.
