Small raid on Kreigflegel's large mining world
At the beginning of every successful battle lies a good ruse. This one involved planting rumours of a collection of absolutely heretical texts involving the Machine God and three underage Leman Russ Tanks aboard the Eldar Wraithship Jade Scythe. Naturally, the Adeptus Mechanicus couldn't resist, and the Jade Scythe managed to lead a small detachment of them away towards waiting allied forces. Once at the site of the ambush, it quickly rejoined with the rest of the force, just barely dodging nova cannon fire all the while. Once back together, the force turned about and advanced upon the enemy's lead elements behind a flurry of torpedoes. Some initial hits were scored and things were looking good, but then captain Mo'Ron of the Reaper's Chariot floundered right in front of the enemy's guns while bumbling his own attack run. Again. Then he neglected to take proper evasive maneuvers to minimize incoming damage. Again. Severely crippled, all that was left for him to do was to turn around and disengage in shame. Again.
Fortunately, the rest of the fleet conducted itself better. Jade Scythe and two squadrons of Shadowhunters managed to combine their fire to take down one of the enemy's Lunar class cruisers in short order, though the resulting plasma overload actually destroyed one of the Shadowhunters. At the same time, a surprisingly adept Mon'Keigh bomber pilot managed to slip through Jade Scythe's turret coverage and landed a single devastating hit that destroyed its shields, but even that was not enough to turn the battle. Now critically outnumbered, the remaining Mechanicus forces quickly disengaged in good order.
Outcome: Eldar victory
Eldar
Reaper's Chariot crippled (again) - Still at LD 6
+4 Renown
Adeptus Mechanicus
Clairvoyant Apostle destroyed - Replacement rolled Fleet Defense Turrets
+2 Renown
